At ME_MMIX, MÒPIA will present its distinctive sonic universe, where the power, textures and structures of metal engage in dialogue with the rich timbres, improvisation and musical language of a jazz big band.
The repertoire consists entirely of original compositions created and arranged specifically for this ensemble by Jaume Rosselló and Josep Oliver Rubio, exploring the possibilities that emerge when two musical traditions that are usually worlds apart come together.
Built around a large ensemble featuring saxophones, trumpets, trombones and a rhythm section, the project develops its own contemporary language in which the energy of progressive metal, big band writing and spaces for improvisation coexist.
