Llompart Project at ME_MMIX: A tribute, a sonic and visual dialogue with memory
The Llompart Project was born as a unique and outstanding initiative within the ME_MMIX production space.
Coinciding with the centenary of the birth of Josep Maria Llompart, a key figure in Catalan literature as a poet, essayist, and translator, ME_MMIX has launched an exceptional creative gathering. This artistic meeting brings together talents from various disciplines: musicians Joan Miquel Oliver, Toni Toledo, and Mateu Malondra; the poet, essayist, and rhapsode Jaume C. Pons Alorda; and the multifaceted visual creator Xavier Malondra.
The experience offers an immersion into his work, incorporating the voice of the author himself reciting two of his poems and one of his translations. This sound recovery has been made possible thanks to the valuable collaboration of the IEB and the audio archive of “Temps de poesia. Els poetes insulars en la seva veu”. In addition, Jaume C. Pons Alorda has prepared a free selection of poems that he will recite live. This dual vocal presence not only adds a new dimension to the act of reciting but also invites a mirror-like play on the inevitable re-signification of the poem over time. It creates a dialogue between the original and the reinterpretation, evoking the notion of eternal return and the transformation of the double.
The music, sonic architecture, and visual landscape are the result of a collective effort, where each thread, of diverse nature, has been harmoniously integrated into a whole. The result is a proposal that masterfully weaves together the languages of musical creators with very diverse personalities and artistic environments. Overall, it highlights intrinsic poetic ability, refined diction, fluency in dialogue, free yet reflective interaction, almost surgical chamber precision, and exquisitely refined visuals.
Without a doubt, the Llompart Project is a bold and fitting proposal for those who appreciate hybridization, heterogeneity, exploration, and risk. A project that will leave no one indifferent and will certainly provoke deep reflections and multiple interpretations among the audience.
