Dichotomia Tactus
Multimedia concert with piano and interactive lecture.
Dichotomia Tactus is a collaborative project developed by multimedia artist and composer Carmen Kleykens Vidal and contemporary pianist and researcher Carolina Santiago.
It consists of a series of compositions for piano and multimedia that re-signify the pianist’s gesture. Through different set-ups and software such as Light Wall System (LiSiLoG), sensors, and electronic sounds, the artists create a program based on the musical and tactile deconstruction of the pianistic gesture.
Dichotomia Tactus reflects on the relationships between listening and touch, on the dichotomy between these senses. It unfolds through a play of dualities: light vs. darkness, visible/invisible, audible/inaudible, corporeal/ethereal.
What exactly do we hear when we see a pianist? To what extent can we adjust our preconception of reality?
